Tata Power Company Invested Rs 4,245 Crore In Odisha
There is an ongoing rise in the need for power in Odisha. The power infrastructure was not capable of expanding the energy, due to which an agreement was signed between Tata Power and the Odisha State Government for joint venture operation.
Under the agreement, Tata Power Company Ltd and the Odisha government have jointly expanded the power infrastructure in the last three to four years in which Tata Power has invested Rs 4,245 crore.
Under this agreement, the company and the state government jointly operate four discoms.
The four discoms include TP Central Odisha Distribution (TPCODL), TP Western Odisha Distribution (TPWODL), TP Southern Odisha Distribution (TPSODL) along TP Northern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPNODL). These provide their services to more than 90 lakh customers.
Improvement In The Power Infrastructure Of The State
The efforts made by Tata Power Company Ltd and the state government seem to be successful as the new amount of investment in the state has helped in expanding 2,177 circuit kilometers of 33 kV lines and 19,809 circuit kilometers for 11 kV lines.
Apart from the work of laying lines, 30,230 distribution transformers have been added to increase the network of power distribution in cities and rural areas.
To ensure that all the work of power distribution is done properly, 166 new primary substations have also been started by the company.
These new substations have been developed based on new technology, due to which about 55% of all the primary substations established are automatic.
Due to the expansion of power infrastructure done by the company, record-breaking electricity is now being provided to the urban and rural people because now more than 23 hours of electricity is being provided daily in urban areas.
On the other hand, more than 21 hours of electricity is being provided daily in rural areas.
