A new group attacks the former world champion; AJ Styles was attacked by Bloodline; The main match was arranged for the New Year Special

WWE decided to tape next week’s episode of SmackDown while the series will be on Christmas break next week. Nick Aldis announced a triple threat match for the SmackDown New Year’s Revolution, with the winner facing Roman Reigns at the Royal Rumble.

WWE SmackDown Spoiler Results (December 22, 2023): Santos Escobar vs. Bobby Lashley – United States Championship Tournament match

The first match of the night was the United States Title semi-final match between Bobby Lashley and Santos Escobar.

Lashley was in control early, but the distractions of Humberto Carrillo and Angel Garza allowed Santos to win.

Dragon Lee (c) vs. Butch – NXT North American Championship Match

The newly crowned NXT North American Champion faced Butch in a title match and managed to retain the gold in his first defense on SmackDown.

Result: Dragon Lee counters. Butch to retain the NXT North American Championship

AJ Styles was almost blacked out and said he was the first to face Roman Reigns. The two-time WWE Champ was interrupted by LA Knight, who said he wanted to face Roman first after what happened at Crown Jewel.

Randy Orton was also out and said that Roman and Bloodline put him on the shelf for 18 months, and nothing will stop him from getting revenge.

Nick Aldis said that the only way to solve this is for Randy, AJ, and Knight to face each other on SmackDown New Year’s Revolution, with the winner facing Roman at the Royal Rumble.

Damaged CTRL vs. Bianca Belair, Shotzi, Zelina Vega & Michin – Holiday Havoc Tag Team Match on WWE SmackDown

Bianca and her team came out of the tank, and we got a very difficult match with Christmas equipment used in the ring. Kairi Sane took a hit with the trash lid before being attacked by Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn, causing CTRL’s Damage to win the match.

Kevin Owens vs. Carmelo Hayes – United States Title Tournament match on WWE SmackDown

The semi-final match for the United States title saw Kevin Owens take on Carmelo Hayes from NXT. Hayes put up a great fight, but Owens won before showing his respect to Hayes after the match.

Result: Kevin Owens counters. Carmelo Hayes

AJ Styles vs. Solo Sikoa on WWE SmackDown

AJ beat up Solo early in the match, but Styles was able to control the rest of the match. As Styles was about to end the match, Roman Reigns attacked him, and the match ended in a disqualification.

Result: DNF

Roman was about to hit a Samoan Drop on AJ, but Styles switched before Randy Orton and LA Knight came out to meet Bloodline. Jimmy Uso was also out, and Knight hit a big hit on Solo and Roman before Bloodline.

Randy, AJ, and Knight turned on each other, and the brawl left LA Knight alone standing at the end.
