The Adani Group on Saturday said it was given the task of renovating the Dharavi slum by the former Maha Vikas Aghadi government in Maharashtra through a fair and transparent international process.
Adani Group’s Dharavi Redevelopment Project Pvt Ltd (DRPPL) issued a statement on the day Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray led a protest from Dharavi to Adani’s office in Mumbai.
“It is important to note that the approvals were completed at the time when the MVA government removed the office at the end of June 2022. The information that was completed, including the qualifications and incentives, which were known to all bidders, did not happen. The spokesperson of DRPPL said in his statement.
The redevelopment project aims to transform the world’s largest skyscraper into a modern city and resettle 1 million residents.

‘Effortless spread of fake news’
“It is unfortunate that people are trying to spread lies about some aspects of the project. It has also been said that all those who have the right land will be given a solution, which means they will move into their new homes. in Dharavi itself,” the statement added.
“According to the tender, even the owners of unqualified land will be given accommodation under the Rental Housing Policy. The auction also ensures that eligible residential properties will receive 17% more land than other SRA projects in Mumbai. Moreover, the creation and use of TDR is in accordance with the tendering process and compliance with the relevant laws,” he said.

“Furthermore, the resettlement of Dharavikars is not affected by Transferable Development Rights (TDR),” the Adani Group added.
“Furthermore, the TDR of the project will be managed and transparently reviewed through a portal specially developed by the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) and the Maharashtra government.”
The government has signed a 99-year contract with Indian Railways, after which it will be handed over for 30 years as some government land in Mumbai to housing associations. “There is no change in the Dharavi Redevelopment Project,” he said.
“There is a general consensus, not only in Mumbai and Maharashtra but in the whole of India, to transform Dharavi and provide the people of Dharavi with a good life, adequate sanitation, education and vocational training, health care, access to employment, basic and basic necessities of life. A dignified life.
“The Dharavi project is very important because many previous efforts have failed to deliver. It is against this that the Adani Group has taken on the challenge and responsibility of transforming Dharavi with all the above facilities,” the statement said.

During the protest, Uddhav Thackeray, who became the chief minister in the Maha Vikas Aghadi coalition government, refuted claims that the project was handed over to Adani during his tenure.
