Maglio began his teaching career in Broward County, Florida, where he taught math at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School from 2000 to 2016. He then moved to Palm Beach County, where he taught math at Wellington Landings Middle School from 2016 to 2020, and then at Wellington Community High School from 2020 to 2023.
In December 2020, Maglio came under investigation by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office after a restaurant manager reported him to the principal of Wellington High School for sending flowers to a teenage employee at work. The employee was a 16-year-old girl who was also a student at Wellington High School and had Maglio as her math teacher.
According to the arrest report, the girl told investigators that she had multiple sexual encounters with Maglio at his apartment in Coral Springs, and that she kept clothes and a toothbrush there. She also said that she loved him and did not want him to get in trouble.
In September 2023, Maglio was arrested and charged with two counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor and one count of an offense against a student by an authority figure.
