IPL Auction 2024 Live Updates: Mitchell Starc (bought for Rs 24.75 crore) and Pat Cummins (Rs 20.5 crore) were the highest buys in the Indian Premier League 2024 market, both Australians broke the record for the most expensive buy in the IPL market. Starc has not played in the IPL since 2015. Despite this, Kolkata Knight Riders chose to break the bank for him with a winning bid of Rs 24.75 crore. Australian cricket captain Cummins was picked by Sunrisers Hyderabad for a whopping Rs 20.5 crore, before Starc dropped him.
Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings splashed the cash on Daryl Mitchell, buying the New Zealander for Rs 14 crore. India’s Harshal Patel was the third most expensive pick at Rs 11.75 crore while recent Cricket World Cup star Rachin Ravindra was snapped up by CSK at Rs 1.8 crore.
Steven Smith, Josh Hazlewood, and Jimmy Neesham were not sold as was India’s Karun Nair. The names of 332 players were announced at the Coca Cola Arena in Dubai on Tuesday as 10 players finalized their squads for the upcoming season.
