SYT vs SYS today match predictions, betting tips, odds and live scores » Today Latest Stories

The Sydney Sixers’ winning streak came to an end when their knockout struggles finally came to them. Now they will face the Sydney Thunder at the Sydney Showground.

SYT have put in some good batting performances so far but have failed to maintain consistency. They failed to chase down 173 runs in their last outing against Brisbane Heat.

However, just before that match, they defeated the Stars by 5 wickets to chase down the set target. Before that, they posted 200 runs on the board while batting first against the Adelaide Strikers.

The Sixers, on the other hand, haven’t been exceptional with the bat. They somehow managed to defend 155 runs against the Strikers but in the next match, they finished with 154 runs for 8 runs first against the Stars on the same home ground.

But this time, the bowlers could not save the Sixers from defeat. The latest batting performance was the Sixers’ worst so far this season. They desperately need a bounce back if they want to get back to winning ways.

Sydney Thunder preview

Strong-looking SYT hopes to find consistency. They won their first match in BBL 2023-24 after two straight losses and are now back to losing matches with another loss.

Cameron Bancroft, Alex Hales, Jason Sangha and Oliver Davies make up the top four in any T20 squad. Hales and Bancroft added 58 and 78 runs to the opening partnership in the final two overs.

The opening duo are in good form and are expected to make another good start for the team. It’s up to Sangha and Davies at 3 and 4 to continue the forward momentum after the opener returns to the hut.

In the lower-middle order, Alex Ross and Daniel Sams are hard-hitting players to watch out for. They will be in the end role for SYT and will have a crucial role to play with the bat.

It is a balanced and deep batting system that is in desperate need of consistency at the moment. Performing numbers 3 and 4 will make a big difference in the final total.

SYT’s bowling attack is also as dangerous as their batting line-up. Daniel Sams, Zaman Khan, Tanveer Sangha and Nathan McAndrew are among the senior players who have been in top form recently.

Sydney Sixers preview

The Sydney Sixers suffered their first defeat of the season while defending a total of 154 points at home to the Melbourne Stars. Previously, they had beaten the Strikers by just one run while defending 155 runs at the same venue.

Although they have a strong bowling attack, they cannot continue to rely on them to defend such sub-par totals in great places. And while the Sydney Showground is not a particularly high-scoring venue, the Sixers would need to pay at least 170 points if they bat first.

The opposition has a strong batting lineup with several strong match-winners on their team. James Vince has found his form in the rankings after failing in the early matches.

This is great news for the Sixers but they will also need others in the middle order to step up and execute. Wicket-keeper batsman Josh Phillip had some good starts but failed to convert them into something big.

His minimal contributions up top hurt the Sixers greatly as he was eating balls on the power play. Moises Henriques and Jordan Silk will be crucial at number four and five in building partnerships, and if the stage is set by the top order, they will be expected to give their all.

Sydney Sixers Predicted Playing XI:

Josh Phillippe (wk), James Vince, Daniel Hughes, Moises Henriques (c), Jordan Silk, Jack Edwards, Sean Abbott, Ben Dwarshuis, Jackson Bird, Joel Davies, Steve O’Keefe.

Weather conditions

It is a well-balanced wicket that offers a lot of help to the bowlers. The hitters will face a tough challenge from the Pacers. The weather is mostly cloudy, with the maximum temperature reaching 23 degrees Celsius.

Location details

The Sydney Showground Stadium will host the Thunder vs Sixers match in BBL 2023-24 on December 30, 2023. The average score batting first here is 150 runs but to get a match-winning score, we believe the team batting first must be looking for something. 175 runs.

Toss: To the bat

There is no significant difference between the victories of the team that bats first or second on this ground. However, considering the batting standard of both teams, we think neither of them is in good shape to chase the total and batting first would be a better option.

Both teams enter this match on the back of a loss. Both have suffered batting collapses and are eager to bounce back. This won’t be the easiest of matches for the batsmen but the bowlers of both teams will be keen to make an impact at this venue in Sydney. It will be a close contest between the two evenly matched teams, with the Sydney Sixers having a slight advantage in our predictions for the match.
