INDIA’s opposition will hold its key meeting in New Delhi today to discuss seat-sharing, formulate a joint plan for the 2024 general elections, and review its plan of action following the backlash in recent elections in three Indian states. it says.
A day before the main opposition meeting, 78 Members of Parliament (MPs) of opposition parties were suspended from both houses – Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha – amid fierce protests demanding accountability for breaching parliamentary security last week.
The suspension came as a result of the opposition MP’s participation in the protest, demanding that Union Home Minister Amit Shah report the violation.
This follows the suspension of 14 MPs last week, who were also advocating for transparency in dealing with the security crisis.

“This government has reached the peak of governance, they have many people, and they are using sticks, they want to run the Parliament as a party office, but this cannot happen, we were interested in discussing the productivity of the Parliament. before December 13 for all to see. It seems easy to talk to the media, but they are afraid to talk in Parliament,” said Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, one of the suspended ministers.
‘Better Moched Than Never’
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the liquor case in Delhi, held a series of meetings with opposition leaders yesterday. Mr Kejriwal held talks for 45 minutes with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee before meeting former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and his trusted aide, Sanjay Raut.
Addressing a large opposition gathering, Prime Minister Banerjee announced that the prime ministerial candidate of the INDIA bloc for the 2024 elections will be chosen only after the elections. Addressing internal conflicts like seat-sharing disputes, Ms Banerjee asserted the coalition’s determination to defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief rejected suggestions that the opposition party has failed to prepare for the 2024 elections, saying, “It is more late than ever,” while saying that a three-way alliance between his party, the Congress, and the Left is very possible in West Bengal. “BJP is not strong, we are weak. We have to work together to defeat,” Ms Banerjee said.

INDIA bloc parties are coming together under the banner of “Main Nahin, Hum” (We, Not Me) to take on Prime Minister Narendra Modi led by the NDA alliance. However, regardless of the message of the public events, the opposition coalition could not manage a common program or appoint a convener, spokesperson, and general secretariat.
The BJP’s recent victories in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh have further strengthened the pressure on the opposition to offer a single alliance. The collapse of Congress in India may force them to revise their plan.
The first meeting of the INDIA bloc was held in Patna on June 23, the second in Bengaluru on July 17-18, and the third in Mumbai between August 31 and September 1.
