On 21 July 2023, Harshit Rana was playing for India A against Bangladesh A during the semifinal of the Men’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2023. He talked about his fight with the Bangladeshi player Soumya Sarkar in an interview and said that when he was celebrating Sarkar’s wicket and crossed him on the field after his dismissal, Sarkar though that Rana said something about him, hence he also said some abusive words towards Rana after which they got into a fight. On 23 March 2024, he was playing against SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Eden Gardens, Kolkata. After dismissing SRH opener Mayank Agarwal, Rana gave a flying kiss to Agarwal who saw it but did not react and walked back to the stadium. The move was criticized by many cricket fans who later commented on social media that Rana should learn to respect senior players.
