He pretended to be an IPL cricketer and played for Mumbai Indians from 2014 to 2018. He used the claim to create the impression that he was “popular”. This helped him influence women, dine in expensive restaurants, and stay in five-star hotels without paying the bills.

In 2022, the fraudster stayed at the Taj Palace Hotel in Delhi for a week. He left the luxury hotel without settling a bill of Rs 5.53 lakh and told the staff that he was a cricketer and Adidas would pay the amount. The hotel staff believed him and shared the bank details. Police said he shared an identity card for a transaction worth Rs 200,000, but it turned out to be fake. The hotel tried to contact him several times to pay the fees, but he made false promises until he hung up his phone and reported the incident to the police.

The man knew that the police were pursuing him, so he kept his phone off so as not to leave any trace of his whereabouts. He made his acquaintances believe that he had settled in Dubai. A surveillance warrant was issued against him and the man was detained at the immigration counter at Delhi airport as he attempted to escape to Hong Kong on December 25, almost a year after the incident.

Backup ID

The fraudster made another attempt to cheat people, this time immigration officials, using his backup identity as an IPS officer from Karnataka. Police said he pretended to be Alok Kumar, additional director general of Karnataka police, and called senior police officials to escape arrest and said “he needed help to help his son Mrinank Singh who was illegally detained at Delhi airport.”

The police arrested him, even though he tried to mislead the police and claimed that his father, Ashok Kumar Singh, played for the Indian cricket team in the late 1980s and is currently a manager at Air India and works for Indira Gandhi International in Delhi. airport.

Rishabh Pant cheating

On several occasions, he posed as a cricketer or as a senior police officer from Karnataka. He has cheated many people including Indian cricket star Rishabh Pant. The police found that he cheated Mr. Pant of Rs 1.63 crore in 2020-21. His other victims include taxi drivers, young women, bars, restaurants, etc. The scammer has more than 40,000 followers on his Instagram account, where he has shared several photos of his “luxury lifestyle.”

Police examined his phone and found several objectionable photos of him with women, and said his phone contained incriminating material, which included his involvement in buying drugs. Police said that several cases have been registered against him in different states.

Police said he is a commerce graduate from Delhi University’s Hindu College. He did an MBA in Human Resources from OPJS University in Rajasthan and was disowned by his family because they had “no control over him”. The accused was transferred to police custody for two days, and is being investigated.
