The Indian Army foiled a major infiltration attempt along the Khor International Border in Jammu state’s Akhnoor district late on Friday night, eliminating at least one terrorist, officials said.
The officials said that the operation took place when a group of four heavily armed terrorists were seen trying to infiltrate this side across the international border in the Al Khor sector of Akhnoor.

The incident comes at a time when a massive search operation was underway to track down the Ultras after four army soldiers were killed by terrorists on Thursday in the Dera Ki Gali forest area of Rajouri sector. Three others were also injured in the terrorist ambush.
The encounter began after terrorists opened fire on two army vehicles passing through Dera Ki Gali in Poonch area of Rajouri at 3.45 pm on Thursday.
An army official said: “At approximately 3.45 pm on December 21, two army vehicles carrying soldiers were moving to the site of operations, at which the terrorist opened fire. Our forces immediately returned fire.”
They added that Indian Army forces responded immediately after being attacked by terrorists. Army officials added, “The troops were on their way to reinforce a joint operation against terrorists ongoing in the area since yesterday evening. The operations are being conducted in the 48 Rashtriya Rifles area.”
Mobile internet has been suspended in Poonch, Rajouri
Mobile internet services were suspended in Poonch and Rajouri districts of Jammu and Kashmir early on Saturday as security forces continued a massive search operation to track down the terrorists behind the latest ambush.
