New Delhi:

The latest episode of Karan Johar’s chat show Coffee with Karan 8 It was one of the books where film veteran Sharmila Tagore attended the screening with her son and actor Saif Ali Khan. Conversations veered toward family dynamics, cinema, and more. During the show, host Karan Johar said about Saif Ali Khan and his ex-wife Amrita Singh, “There is one place he arrived and never left. It was Amrita Singh’s house. He arrived there the first time and she never left.” Karan Johar then added: “And Soha (Saif’s sister) told me that in the end when she got married, she was 13 years old and one of her colleagues told her, ‘Your brother just got married.’”

Speaking about marriage, Saif Ali Khan said, “I remember telling my mother.” Sharmila Tagore chimed in and said, “Actually I was visiting Mumbai for something and Saif came to me to meet me. He said I have something to tell you and he told me. And then of course, I don’t know what to tell you.” He did, but I was quiet and he said, ‘Mother, you’re calm, your color is changing, your shape is different,’ and I told him, ‘We’ll talk about it later.’ And then he left. Then I called Tiger and told him, and there was a long silence on his part. Then we left it at that. Then I said, ‘I’d like to meet her.’” The next day. “I called Amrita and we had tea and talked, but we are still completely shocked.”

“How can one suddenly get married at this age,” Karan Johar asked Saif. The actor replied: “It was kind of like running away from home. I don’t remember a lot of the things that happened and I found a kind of security and the idea of it that felt good. I thought I could make a home out of that.” Sharmila Tagore added that Saif and Amrita Singh were very similar in many ways. “They were both very similar. They were both very funny. Whenever they talked, there was a lot of laughter, imitating others, tearing someone apart in a funny way. He’s good at imitation and she’s good at imitation.” “Great storyteller. They looked really happy together,” she added.

Saif added that his mother was supportive when she found out about his marriage to Amrita. “She (Sharmila Tagore) was supportive when I did it, and I remember that. She said, ‘I think you’re living with someone and doing something.’ So I said yes, and she said don’t get married. I got married yesterday,” Saif Ali Khan said. A large tear fell from her eye. She started crying and said: You really hurt me, why didn’t you tell me. This is what actually happened there.”

The actor also added that Sharmila Tagore was the first person he spoke to before his breakup with Amrita, and said, “About the breakup, the first person I spoke to before the breakup was my mother, who took a deep breath and there was another pause.” “I got on the phone and said, ‘I’m with you if this is what you want’ and that helped a lot.”

Talking about Saif and Amrita’s breakup, Sharmila Tagore said, “When you are together for such a long time and you have such beautiful children, it’s not easy to break up. So it’s not harmonious… I know it’s difficult to get harmony at that stage. Everyone is hurting.” ..So that phase wasn’t nice but I tried. But this is water under the bridge, it needed time to calm down.”

Sharmila Tagore added that it was a difficult time not only for Saif but for the family as well. “It’s not just staying away, there’s a lot of other things involved. It wasn’t a happy time for us because Ibrahim was only three and we were very fond of children. In particular, Tiger was very fond of Ibrahim and he would say, ‘That’s a boy good. He didn’t get that time with him. So we felt doubly deprived by the loss of Amrita and the loss of the two children. “So it’s not just him but we also had to adapt to all of that.”

Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh married in 1991, and after thirteen years, the couple divorced in 2004. Saif and Amrita are parents to a son named Ibrahim Ali Khan and a daughter Sara Ali Khan. Saif married actress Kareena Kapoor in 2012 and they have two sons, Taimur and Jay.
